Manchester United's New Stadium Could Bring The Club Billions In Additional Revenue
Today's newsletter breaks down Manchester United's new stadium proposal, including how much money clubs like Tottenham and Real Madrid are making off their new stadiums.
Collette Roche has been busy over the last several months. Manchester United’s COO has taken flights to Los Angeles, Madrid, Barcelona, and Perth, visiting some of the world’s nicest stadiums, including SoFi Stadium and Santiago Bernabéu, with the intention of gathering ideas for an eventual new stadium in Manchester, England.
Well, that time is now. According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United — under the direction of its new billionaire co-owner Jim Ratcliffe — aims to submit plans for a new 100,000-seat stadium by the end of the 2024 calendar year.
The new stadium would be built in the parking lot next to Old Trafford (on the 100 acres of surrounding land that Manchester United already owns). The project would take six years to complete, and the stadium would cost at least $2.6 billion.
